USCIS Staves Off Furlough But Not Delays

On August 25, 2020, just days before its August 30 deadline, USCIS announced that it will be able to avoid the furlough of more than 13,000 employees (almost 70 percent of its staff).

USCIS says it “expects to be able to maintain operations through the end of fiscal year 2020. Aggressive spending reduction measures will impact all agency operations, including naturalizations, and will drastically impact agency contracts.”

All this adds up to more delays in immigration. The bottom line? Expect more waiting.
